Fireflies shine their light because that's who they are, what they do, shining their light is part of their essence. Like all living things, they started small, as a glow worm, and grow into their wings becoming an adult.

I believe the same can be said about us, we start small and aren't afraid to shine, but unlike the fire fly sometimes we humans forget to shine our light. We cage our light and in so doing defy our natural essence.

Fireflies are rich in symbology, in Native American culture they are a totem of spiritual inspiration and hope. They are a reminder of the inner star we are cultivating or a sign of promise for the star on the horizon for us.

When firefly appears in our world, whether in person, or in art, or words, it is a sign that the time to trust our own light and inner voice is now.

It is my hope that this piece be a reminder to un-cage your light, let it shine. You have a light inside, we all do, by returning to this light we return to our natural sate of being and live in harmony with the natural world.
